Wednesday, December 22, 2021- At Sea

 Wednesday, December 22, 2021

At Sea; It was hard getting up out of such a comfortable bed, but we were able to head to the Concerto dining room with John and Price for breakfast.  Ciara and Tom were still in their stateroom after we had finished breakfast.  Janet initially wanted to see the destination lecture for Aruba, but ended up napping in the room while Ben wandered down and joined a group of seniors from all over North America for morning Trivia in Club 6.  Linda and Phyllis from Florida, Peggy and Ken from Georgia, and John from Vancouver were all veteran cruisers, judging from their black elite medallions.  We tied with one other team, but won the tie breaker which was to guess how many moons Jupiter has.  We guessed 57, they guessed 16 and the host’s answer was 67, so we won notebooks.

Janet and Ciara attended the Esteé Lauder Skin Care Event for free facials while Ben grabbed lunch on the pool deck.  We then all met at Princess Live for TV Tunes trivia, which we won by one point with Sam joining our family.  We walked out with a stack of notebooks.

Everyone rendezvoused for afternoon tea, which was pretty busy, being the first afternoon tea of the cruise.  Then we split up and rested up before our first formal evening.

We got pictures taken for formal night and then had dinner in Allegro dining room with the same table and wait staff Ryan and Rivan, both from the Philippines.  Our room steward also happens to have a first name that starts with “R”- Roger.  They had fillet mignon, leg of lamb and snapper.  There was also a Princess Chocolate Journey hazel bar on the dessert menu.

After dinner, we attended the early showing of “Bravo”, a live Princess Theater production featuring popular opera and movie music featuring a guest soprano, who was from Chicago this time.  We have seen this production several times, and while the lead singers on this ship’s troupe are OK, two had a tendency to be too liberal with tempos and down beats, which lead to their duets being a bit of a mess.  American Idol ruined too many singers.  But the guest soprano was superior, hitting all her notes dead on.

After the show, we made our late night buffet run, but ended up having drinks, pizza and hot dogs while watching the Regal Princess water shows and then the start of Free Guy on the Movies under the stars.  We had planned on attending the 10PM 80’s music trivia, but we were having such a relaxed and pleasant time sipping on drinks and watching the shows on the pool deck, we decided to skip the trivia. It was nice and warm outside- not too humid or breezy, but the audio for the movie outside was not nearly as easy to understand than watching the movie in our staterooms with subtitles on.  So after finishing up our drinks, every one retired to our staterooms to finish the movie and prepare for bed.  Our clocks move forward an hour tonight.  Tomorrow is another sea day.
