Friday, March 2, 2018- Cruise Day 38; At Sea

Friday, March 2, 2018- Cruise Day 38; At Sea

We had breakfast in the dining room and then did the morning trivia with our usual team.  We scored 19/20 but 2 teams tied for first with 20/20.

We did another Effy drawing, but didn’t win.  Then we hit the fitness center for some guilt reduction.  We watched The Music Man on TV, which was fun to see after so many years.  After lunch, we did the afternoon trivia with our usual team, scoring 21/26 while the winners scored 23/26 in a 2 way tie.  They had to guess the age of the AV technician, who is a Filipino.  It turned out he was 39, but looks like he’s in his mid to late 20’s.

This was another Formal night, so we had to dress up for dinner.  They did serve lobster, and we ordered a double portion, but the lobster they served were some kind of Caribbean lobster, not New England lobster.  These were served cut in half down the centerline and broiled.  They put 3 halves on each serving.  They tasted good, but the meat sticks to the inside of the shells, so it is a lot of work trying to get the meat out.  It kind of makes it not worth getting this lobster.  When we had the lobster at Sabbatini’s specialty restaurant, they did serve a lobster species that you could pop the meat out fo the shell easily, and the waiters would pluck the meat out of the shells for you.

We attended the early production show called Do You Wanna Dance.  It turned out to be a really good show with many different examples of dancing, including some interesting Indian dances (not quite Bollywood), Flamenco, western popular dances and Celtic dances.  The singers did songs for the western dance styles, and even sung O’ Danny Boy while the dancers had to do a quick costume change to prepare for their rendition of River Dance.  The sets, backdrops, transitions, and lighting are all well done, and clearly a class above the shows we saw on the Norwegian Pearl.

We finished our evening on -Guess what?  Another trivia.  This was an animal trivia.  We scored 15/20, missing the winning score of 16/20 by one question.  Ben tried to do some stargazing since the clouds had parted, allowing a view of the sky, but there was a full moon out and there are too many lights on the ship’s decks to view any but the brightest of stars.  There is a bright planet low on the eastern horizon and a cluster of stars in the south, but nothing that looks like the flags of New Zealand, Australia, or Western Samoa.  We have another at sea day tomorrow.
