Wednesday, March 7, 2018- Cruise Day 43; At Sea

Wednesday, March 7, 2018- Cruise Day 43; At Sea

The temperature outside in the mornings is now in the low 70’s and it is very pleasant to hang out on the balcony.  After breakfast, we had the first of a new Progressive Cruise Trivia games for teams, where scores will be tallied for the duration of the cruise and a prize will be awarded on the last sea day for the team with the highest score.  Only the first Trivia of the day on at sea days will be progressive trivias, while the afternoon and evening trivias will remain normal.  Our team scored in second place with 11 points out of a possible 12.  One team (Motley Crew) did manage a perfect score of 12.

We watched the destination expert lecture on TV and had a relaxed lunch in the dining room.  We met our team for the afternoon trivia, but didn’t fare so well.

We had another formal night, so we dressed up for dinner and saw the early production show “What the World Needs Now” with the Island Princess singers and dancers.  They did a great medley of songs from the 60’s and 70’s.  The usual Island Princess band was joined by the string trio that plays everyday in the atrium, giving them a fuller orchestral sound.  One of the lead female singers debuted a dramatic hair cut, which was a striking departure from her long flowing hair in earlier shows.  While we recognized the songs they were singing, we were unable to pinpoint the original artists.

That wasn’t so good because the evening trivia was 50’s and 60’s music.  In the end, we did better than most, scoring 43/50, but incredibly, one team scored 49/50.

We packed up for Machu Picchu.  Our tour leaves at 7:50AM from the ship.  We hope we’re up to the challenges of the altitude and stairs.
